  • Releases the exterior and transforms dampness
  • Regulates the qi and harmonises the middle

Indications

Exterior wind-cold with internal damp: chills and fever, headache, a stifling chest, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain (e.g. acute gastroenteritis, ‘stomach flu’).

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: white, greasy coat. Pulse: moderate or soggy.

Modifications

With marked food stagnation, add Shan Zha and Shen Qu.

Cautions & Contraindications

Aromatic and drying; not for damp-heat or yin deficiency.
