• Huo Xiang – chief
• Zi Su Ye, Bai Zhi; Ban Xia, Hou Po, Chen Pi, Da Fu Pi; Bai Zhu, Fu Ling; Jie Geng, Gan Cao, Sheng Jiang, Da Zao

• Releases the exterior and transforms dampness
• Regulates the qi and harmonises the middle

Exterior wind-cold with internal damp: chills and fever, headache, a stifling chest, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain (e.g. acute gastroenteritis, ‘stomach flu’).

Tongue: white, greasy coat. Pulse: moderate or soggy.

With marked food stagnation, add Shan Zha and Shen Qu.

Aromatic and drying; not for damp-heat or yin deficiency.
