Ingredients

Actions & Functions

  • Releases the exterior and dispels wind-water
  • Promotes sweating and urination; clears heat

Indications

Wind-water oedema: sudden, generalised oedema (worse above the waist and in the face), fever and aversion to wind, sweating, and difficult urination.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: thin white or yellow coat. Pulse: floating.

Modifications

Add Bai Zhu (Yue Bi Jia Zhu Tang) when damp is more pronounced.

Cautions & Contraindications

Contains a large dose of Ma Huang; for acute wind-water oedema, not for chronic deficiency oedema.
