Yellow Earth Decoction

Jin Gui Yao Lue, c. 220 CE

• Zao Xin Tu (Fu Long Gan, cooked-earth) – chief; Bai Zhu, Fu Zi (warm Spleen yang)
• E Jiao, Sheng Di (nourish/stop bleeding); Huang Qin (balance); Gan Cao

• Warms the Spleen yang and stops bleeding
• Nourishes the blood and yin

Spleen yang deficiency failing to hold the blood: chronic blood in the stool, blood in the urine, or uterine bleeding, with pale watery blood, cold limbs, a wan complexion and fatigue.

Tongue: pale with a white coat. Pulse: deep, thin and forceless.

Substitute Chi Shi Zhi if Zao Xin Tu is unavailable.

For deficiency-cold bleeding; not for bleeding from heat or stasis.
