Actions & Functions
- Drains fire and resolves toxicity (all three burners)
Indications
Blazing fire-toxicity: high fever, irritability, delirium, a dry mouth, toxic sores and carbuncles, and bleeding from heat.
Tongue & Pulse
Tongue: red with a yellow coat. Pulse: rapid and forceful.
Modifications
With marked blood heat and bleeding, add Sheng Di and Mu Dan Pi.
Cautions & Contraindications
Extremely bitter and cold - use briefly; contraindicated in deficiency-cold and where there is no genuine fire.
