• Dan Nan Xing & Gua Lou Ren – chief; Huang Qin (clear heat)
• Zhi Shi, Chen Pi (move qi); Ban Xia, Fu Ling, Xing Ren; Sheng Jiang

• Clears heat and transforms phlegm-heat
• Descends rebellious qi and stops cough

Phlegm-heat obstructing the Lung: cough with thick, yellow, difficult sputum, a stifling chest, nausea, and possibly wheezing.

Tongue: red with a yellow greasy coat. Pulse: slippery and rapid.

With marked constipation, add herbs to drain heat downward.

For phlegm-heat; not for cold-phlegm or dry cough from yin deficiency.
