Ingredients

  • Qing Dai, Zhi Zi (clear Liver fire) – chief; Gua Lou Ren (transform phlegm-heat)
  • Hai Fu Shi (Hai Ge Ke), He Zi (clear phlegm/astringe Lung)

  • Clears Liver fire and the Lung
  • Transforms phlegm-heat and stops coughing of blood

Indications

Liver fire scorching the Lung: coughing of blood or blood-streaked sputum, thick sticky phlegm, a flushed face, irritability, a bitter taste, and chest and hypochondriac discomfort.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: red with a yellow coat. Pulse: wiry and rapid.

Modifications

With marked yin deficiency, add yin-nourishing herbs.

Cautions & Contraindications

For coughing of blood from Liver fire/phlegm-heat; not for bleeding from deficiency-cold.
