This is the Xi-Cleft point of the Large Intestine channel, used for acute conditions, intestinal disorders and clearing heat.

Large Intestine 7 (LI 7) Wen Liu 溫溜 — Warm Dwelling

Location

On the radial aspect of the forearm, 5 cun proximal to the wrist crease (LI-5), on the line connecting LI-5 and LI-11.

Anatomy

On extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis; the cephalic vein and radial artery branches; the superficial radial nerve and posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve.

Indications

Borborygmus and abdominal pain, sore throat, swelling of the face, mouth ulcers, and pain of the shoulder and arm.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With ST-25 for abdominal pain; with LI-11 for heat and toxicity.
