This is the Confluent point of the Yin Qiao Mai. It nourishes Kidney yin, benefits the throat and eyes, calms the spirit and regulates the lower burner.

Kidney 6 (KI 6) Zhao Hai 照海 — Shining Sea

Location

On the medial aspect of the ankle, 1 cun inferior to the prominence of the medial malleolus, in the depression below the malleolus.

Anatomy

Below the medial malleolus, on tibialis posterior; the posterior tibial artery; the medial crural cutaneous nerve and the tibial nerve.

  • Calms the spirit and regulates the Yin Qiao Mai
  • Regulates the lower burner and uterus

Indications

Chronic and dry sore throat, insomnia, dry eyes, irregular menstruation and abnormal vaginal discharge, urinary difficulty, constipation, and epilepsy (night-time).

Needling

0.3-0.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With LU-7 (its paired Confluent point) for the throat and chest; with HT-7 and An Mian for insomnia.
