Governing Vessel 27 (DU 27) Dui Duan 兌端 — Extremity of the Mouth

Location

On the face, at the junction of the philtrum and the upper lip, at the midpoint of the upper border of the upper lip (the vermilion border).

Anatomy

In the orbicularis oris; the superior labial artery and vein; the buccal branch of the facial nerve and the infraorbital nerve.

  • Benefits the mouth, lips and gums
  • Calms the spirit and clears heat

Indications

Swelling and pain of the gums and lips, nasal congestion and nosebleed, facial paralysis, and mania.

Needling

0.2-0.3 cun, oblique upward insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Moxibustion is not used on the lip.

Point Combinations

With DU-26 for the face and mouth.
