Changqiang (DU-1), “Long Strong”, is the Luo-Connecting point of the Governing Vessel. It benefits the lower orifices, treats haemorrhoids and rectal prolapse and calms the spirit.
Location
Below the tip of the coccyx, midway between the tip of the coccyx and the anus, located with the patient prone or in knee-chest position.
Anatomy
Between the tip of the coccyx and the anus; the inferior rectal artery; the coccygeal nerve and the inferior rectal nerve.

Indications
Haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, constipation and diarrhoea, anal pain and bleeding, and epilepsy and mania.
Needling
0.5-1.0 cun, inserted obliquely upward close to the front of the coccyx (not into the rectum).
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With DU-20 and BL-57 for haemorrhoids and prolapse.
