Dachangshu (BL-25), “Large Intestine Shu”, is the Back-Shu point of the Large Intestine. It regulates the Intestines, relieves lower back and leg pain and is a principal point for lumbar pain and sciatica.
Location
On the lower back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra (L4), level with the iliac crests.
Anatomy
On the erector spinae; the lumbar artery; the dorsal rami of the lumbar nerves.

Indications
Lower back pain and sciatica, abdominal pain and distension, borborygmus, diarrhoea and constipation.
Needling
0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With BL-23 and BL-40 for lumbar pain and sciatica; with ST-25 for the Intestines.
