Ingredients

Actions & Functions

  • Clears heat and opens the orifices
  • Transforms turbid phlegm (restores consciousness)

Indications

Heat with phlegm clouding the Pericardium: high fever, delirium or coma, a phlegm rattle, and restlessness (e.g. in severe febrile illness or stroke with phlegm-heat).

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: red with a greasy yellow coat. Pulse: slippery and rapid.

Modifications

Emergency, short-term use; ensure conventional emergency care.

Cautions & Contraindications

Contains toxic minerals (cinnabar, realgar) classically - emergency use by qualified practitioners; contraindicated in pregnancy and cold-closed patterns.
