Ingredients

Actions & Functions

  • Enriches the yin and nourishes the blood
  • Drains fire and stops sweating; stabilises the exterior

Indications

Yin deficiency with fire: pronounced night sweats, a flushed face, irritability, a dry mouth and lips, and dark urine.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: red with a yellow coat. Pulse: rapid.

Modifications

For sweating from qi deficiency instead, use a qi-stabilising approach.

Cautions & Contraindications

Cold and bitter; use with caution in Spleen-Stomach deficiency with poor appetite.
