Ingredients

Actions & Functions

  • Warms the yang and nourishes the blood
  • Disperses cold and dissipates phlegm/masses

Indications

Yin-type abscesses and masses: deep, diffuse, hard swellings that are not red or hot and cause dull pain, with a pale complexion and no thirst (e.g. chronic cold sores, certain joint or bone disorders).

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: pale with a white coat. Pulse: deep, thin or faint.

Modifications

For yang-type (hot, red) sores this is contraindicated.

Cautions & Contraindications

Strictly for yin-type cold patterns; contraindicated in heat-type sores and yin deficiency.
