Ingredients

Actions & Functions

  • Tonifies the qi and invigorates the blood

Indications

Sequelae of windstroke from qi deficiency and blood stasis: hemiplegia, facial paralysis, slurred speech, drooling, and atrophy or weakness of the limbs.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: pale with a white coat. Pulse: moderate and weak.

Modifications

Begin Huang Qi at a moderate dose and increase gradually; add herbs to extinguish wind if needed.

Cautions & Contraindications

For qi-deficiency/blood-stasis patterns; not in the acute stage with Liver-yang/wind or heat. Caution with bleeding tendency.
