Bladder 29 (BL 29) Zhong Lv Shu 中膂俞 — Mid-Spine Shu

Location

On the sacrum, 1.5 cun lateral to the midline, level with the third posterior sacral foramen (S3).

Anatomy

On the gluteus maximus; the lateral sacral artery; the dorsal rami of the sacral nerves.

  • Strengthens the lower back and sacrum
  • Regulates the Intestines and benefits the legs

Indications

Lumbosacral pain, sciatica, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, and stiffness of the lower back.

Needling

0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With BL-25 and BL-54 for lumbosacral pain and sciatica.
