This is the Luo-Connecting point of the Governing Vessel. It benefits the lower orifices, treats haemorrhoids and rectal prolapse and calms the spirit.

Governing Vessel 1 (DU 1) Chang Qiang 長強 — Long Strong

Location

Below the tip of the coccyx, midway between the tip of the coccyx and the anus, located with the patient prone or in knee-chest position.

Anatomy

Between the tip of the coccyx and the anus; the inferior rectal artery; the coccygeal nerve and the inferior rectal nerve.

  • Benefits the lower orifices (anus and genitals)
  • Treats haemorrhoids and rectal prolapse
  • Calms the spirit and stops spasm

Indications

Haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, constipation and diarrhoea, anal pain and bleeding, and epilepsy and mania.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, inserted obliquely upward close to the front of the coccyx (not into the rectum).

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With DU-20 and BL-57 for haemorrhoids and prolapse.
