Location

On the lateral thigh, where the tip of the middle finger rests when the arm hangs by the side, 7 cun proximal to the popliteal crease, posterior to the iliotibial band.

Anatomy

Between vastus lateralis and the biceps femoris; the muscular branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery; the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve and the muscular branches of the femoral nerve.

  • Dispels wind-damp and activates the channel
  • Benefits the leg and dispels wind from the skin (itching)

Indications

Pain, numbness, weakness and motor impairment of the leg, hemiplegia, sciatica, and generalised itching of the body.

Needling

1.0-1.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With GB-34 for leg disorders; with LI-11 and SP-10 for itching.
