This is the Luo-Connecting point of the Stomach channel and the single most important point for resolving phlegm and damp, whether substantial or insubstantial (clouding the mind).

Location

On the anterolateral lower leg, 8 cun inferior to ST-35, two finger-breadths (middle finger) lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia (lateral to ST-38).

Anatomy

On tibialis anterior and the extensor digitorum longus; the anterior tibial artery; the superficial peroneal nerve.

Actions & Functions

  • Resolves phlegm and damp (the chief point for phlegm)
  • Calms the spirit and opens the orifices (phlegm misting the mind)
  • Descends rebellious qi and harmonises the Stomach

Indications

Cough with copious phlegm, asthma, dizziness, plum-stone throat, mania and phlegm-related mental disorders, and oedema and heaviness of the body.

Needling

0.8-1.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With SP-3 and CV-12 to resolve phlegm and damp; with PC-5 and HT-7 for phlegm misting the mind.
