Xiajuxu (ST-39), “Lower Great Hollow”, is the Lower He-Sea point of the Small Intestine. It regulates the Intestines, benefits the small intestine and relieves lower abdominal pain.
Location
On the anterior lower leg, 9 cun inferior to ST-35 (1 cun below ST-38), one finger-breadth lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia.
Anatomy
On tibialis anterior; the anterior tibial artery and vein; the superficial and deep peroneal nerves.

- Relieves lower abdominal pain and dispels damp-heat

Indications
Lower abdominal pain, diarrhoea and dysentery, mastitis, and pain and atrophy of the lower limb.
Needling
0.5-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With ST-25 and ST-37 for intestinal disorders.
