Stomach 11 (ST 11) Qi She 氣舍 — Qi Abode

Location

At the root of the neck, at the superior border of the medial end of the clavicle, between the sternal and clavicular heads of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.

Anatomy

Between the heads of sternocleidomastoid; the anterior jugular vein and the superior thyroid artery; the cutaneous cervical nerve.

  • Benefits the throat and descends rebellious qi
  • Dissipates nodules

Indications

Sore throat, goitre and scrofula, stiff neck, and cough and asthma.

Needling

0.3-0.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Moxibustion may be used.

Point Combinations

With ST-9 and CV-22 for goitre.

Used for throat and neck disorders.

Cautions & Contraindications

Avoid deep insertion (pleura of the lung apex lies below); avoid the vessels.
