Location

On the head, anterior and superior to the ear, at the posterior border of the temple hairline, where the superficial temporal artery passes.

Anatomy

On the temple, at the hairline; the superficial temporal artery and vein; the auriculotemporal nerve and the temporal branch of the facial nerve.

  • Dispels wind and benefits the ears and face
  • Activates the channel

Indications

Headache, heaviness of the head, tinnitus, facial paralysis and twitching, and lockjaw.

Needling

0.1-0.3 cun, transverse insertion, avoiding the artery.

Moxibustion Suitability

Moxibustion is generally not used on the face.

Point Combinations

With SJ-21 and SI-19 for ear disorders.
