Lu Hui (Aloe)

Lu Hui (蘆薈), the dried concentrate of Aloe, purges accumulation and drains heat downward, clears Liver fire, and kills intestinal parasites; used for constipation with Liver heat.

Indications

Constipation with Liver fire, irritability, dizziness and headache; and childhood nutritional impairment with worms and heat.

Dosage

1-2 g, in pills or powder (not usually decocted).

Common Combinations

With Long Dan Cao and Zhi Zi (Dang Gui Long Hui Wan) for Liver fire with constipation.

Cautions & Contraindications

Contraindicated in pregnancy and in Spleen-Stomach deficiency-cold with poor appetite and loose stools.
