Hai Tong Pi (Erythrinae Cortex)

Hai Tong Pi (海桐皮), the bark of Erythrina, dispels wind-damp and unblocks the channels to relieve painful obstruction, especially of the lower limbs, and relieves damp skin itching (topically).

Indications

Wind-damp painful obstruction with cramp and pain, especially of the legs; and damp skin conditions with itching (topical).

Dosage

6-12 g in decoction; external use as a wash.

Common Combinations

With Wei Ling Xian and Niu Xi for wind-damp pain of the legs.

Cautions & Contraindications

Use with caution in blood deficiency.
