Bai Ji (白及), the rhizome of Bletilla, astringes and stops bleeding (especially of the Lung and Stomach) and reduces swelling and promotes the healing of sores and chapped skin.

Indications

Coughing or vomiting of blood; bleeding peptic ulcers; and non-healing sores, ulcers and cracked skin (topical).

Dosage

3-9 g in decoction, or 1.5-3 g as powder.

Common Combinations

With San Qi for bleeding ulcers.

Cautions & Contraindications

Classically incompatible with Wu Tou (aconite); use with caution with early-stage Lung abscess with heat.
