Ingredients

  • Ci Shi (anchor yang/benefit ears-eyes) – chief; Zhu Sha (settle spirit – now substituted)
  • Shen Qu (aid digestion of minerals)

Indications

Ascendant yang with a restless spirit: palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and blurred vision, tinnitus or deafness.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: red. Pulse: wiry or rapid.

Modifications

Modern versions replace cinnabar with other settling herbs.

Cautions & Contraindications

Zhu Sha (cinnabar) is toxic and restricted - use a cinnabar-free version; heavy minerals are hard to digest, so use briefly.
