This point, at the knee, is a principal local point for pain, swelling and disorders of the knee. With the medial eye of the knee (Xiyan) it forms the “knee eyes”.
Location
At the knee, in the depression lateral to the patellar ligament, when the knee is flexed (the lateral 'eye' of the knee).
Anatomy
Lateral to the patellar ligament; the inferior genicular arterial network; the lateral sural cutaneous nerve and the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve.

- Activates the channel and benefits the knee
- Dispels wind-damp and reduces swelling
Indications
Pain, swelling, stiffness and motor impairment of the knee, and painful obstruction of the knee.
Needling
0.7-1.2 cun, oblique insertion directed posteromedially into the knee.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With Xiyan (the medial knee eye), ST-34 and SP-9 for knee disorders.
