SP-12 Chongmen

Chongmen (SP-12), “Rushing Gate”, in the groin, regulates qi in the lower burner, treats hernia and benefits the genitals.

Location

In the groin, lateral to the femoral artery, at the upper border of the pubic symphysis, 3.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

Anatomy

Lateral to the femoral artery; the femoral artery and vein; the femoral and genitofemoral nerves.

Indications

Hernia, abdominal pain and distension, retention of urine, and disorders of pregnancy and the uterus.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion, avoiding the femoral artery.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With SP-13 and REN-6 for hernia and abdominal pain.
