This point, below the umbilicus, is one of the most important points for tonifying qi and yang, raising sunken qi and rescuing collapse. It is a key point for general deficiency and exhaustion.
Location
On the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 1.5 cun inferior to the umbilicus.
Anatomy
On the linea alba; the inferior and superficial epigastric arteries; the eleventh intercostal nerve.
Actions & Functions
- Tonifies qi and yang and benefits the original qi
- Raises sunken qi (prolapse, fatigue) and rescues collapse
- Regulates qi in the lower burner and benefits the uterus
Indications
General weakness, fatigue and exhaustion, prolapse (uterus, rectum), abdominal pain and distension, irregular menstruation, impotence and seminal emission, and enuresis.
Needling
0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Highly suitable - a principal moxibustion point to tonify qi and yang.
Point Combinations
With ST-36 and REN-4 to tonify qi; with DU-20 to raise sunken qi and lift prolapse.
