Liver 7 (LV 7) Xi Guan 膝關 — Knee Joint

Location

On the medial aspect of the knee, 1 cun posterior to SP-9, in the upper portion of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle.

Anatomy

On the medial head of gastrocnemius; the medial inferior genicular artery; the medial sural cutaneous nerve.

  • Dispels wind and damp
  • Activates the channel and benefits the knee

Indications

Pain, swelling and motor impairment of the knee, and painful obstruction of the medial knee.

Needling

0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With SP-9, ST-35 and Xiyan for knee disorders.
