Yangxi (LI-5), “Yang Stream”, is the Jing-River and Fire point of the Large Intestine channel. It clears heat, calms the spirit and benefits the wrist.
Location
At the wrist, on the radial side, in the depression of the anatomical snuffbox, between the tendons of extensor pollicis longus and brevis.
Anatomy
Within the anatomical snuffbox; the radial artery (the cephalic vein origin); the superficial branch of the radial nerve.

Indications
Headache, redness and pain of the eyes, toothache, sore throat, tinnitus, and pain of the wrist.
Needling
0.3-0.5 cun, perpendicular insertion, avoiding the radial artery.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With LI-4 for headache and toothache; with SJ-5 for wrist pain.
