GB-13 Benshen

Benshen (GB-13), “Root Spirit”, on the forehead, calms the spirit, dispels wind and is used for fright, anxiety and epilepsy.

Location

On the head, 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline, 3 cun lateral to DU-24 (two-thirds of the distance from DU-24 to ST-8).

Anatomy

On the frontalis; the frontal and superficial temporal arteries; the lateral branch of the frontal nerve.

  • Calms the spirit and the emotions
  • Dispels wind and benefits the head
  • Settles fright and epilepsy

Indications

Epilepsy and convulsions, fright, anxiety and insomnia, headache, dizziness, and stiff neck.

Needling

0.5-0.8 cun, transverse insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With DU-24 and HT-7 for anxiety and mental-emotional disorders.
