BL-59 Fuyang

Fuyang (BL-59), “Instep Yang”, is the Xi-Cleft point of the Yang Qiao Mai. It activates the channel, relieves lower back and leg pain and benefits the ankle.

Location

On the back of the lower leg, 3 cun proximal to BL-60, between the fibula and the Achilles tendon.

Anatomy

Lateral to the Achilles tendon, on soleus; the peroneal artery; the sural nerve.

  • Activates the channel and relieves pain (Xi-cleft of the Yang Qiao Mai)
  • Benefits the lower back, leg and ankle

Indications

Heaviness of the head and headache, lower back pain, pain and swelling of the outer ankle, and weakness of the leg.

Needling

0.8-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With BL-60 and BL-62 for ankle and leg disorders.
