Indications

Damp-heat dysentery: diarrhoea with blood and pus, abdominal pain, and tenesmus.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: yellow greasy coat. Pulse: slippery and rapid.

Modifications

Often combined into larger dysentery formulas (e.g. with Shao Yao Tang).

Cautions & Contraindications

For damp-heat dysentery; not for cold or deficiency diarrhoea.
