Indications

Qi stagnation with phlegm: a feeling of a lump or obstruction in the throat that cannot be swallowed or spat out (plum-stone throat), with a stifling chest, and possibly cough or nausea.

Tongue & Pulse

Tongue: moist or greasy white coat. Pulse: wiry, slippery or soggy.

Modifications

With heat, add Huang Qin or Zhu Ru; with marked constraint, add herbs to spread the Liver.

Cautions & Contraindications

Warm and drying; use with caution in yin deficiency with a dry throat.
