Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex)

Sang Bai Pi (桑白皮), the root bark of the mulberry, drains heat from the Lung and redirects rebellious Lung qi downward to calm wheezing, and promotes urination to reduce oedema.

Indications

Lung heat with cough and wheezing and thick sputum; and oedema with difficult urination, especially of the face.

Dosage

6-12 g in decoction.

Common Combinations

With Di Gu Pi (Xie Bai San) for Lung heat cough.

Cautions & Contraindications

Avoid in cough and wheezing from cold or deficiency.
