Xin Yi Hua (辛夷花), the flower bud of Magnolia, disperses wind-cold and is a principal herb for opening the nasal passages in nasal congestion, sinusitis and rhinitis.

Indications

Nasal congestion, runny nose, sinusitis and rhinitis, and frontal headache from wind-cold.

Dosage

3-9 g in decoction (wrap, as the hairs can irritate the throat).

Common Combinations

With Cang Er Zi and Bai Zhi for nasal congestion and sinusitis.

Cautions & Contraindications

Use with caution in nasal disorders from yin deficiency with heat.
