This is the Jing-River and Fire point of the Bladder channel. It relaxes the sinews, activates the channel, relieves pain along the whole Bladder channel (head, neck, back) and promotes labour.
Location
On the lateral aspect of the ankle, in the depression between the prominence of the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon.
Anatomy
Between the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon; the posterior peroneal artery; the sural nerve.
Actions & Functions
- Relaxes the sinews and activates the channel
- Relieves pain of the head, neck, back and ankle along the channel
- Promotes labour and clears heat
Indications
Headache and stiff neck, lower back pain and sciatica, pain and swelling of the ankle and heel, and difficult labour and retained placenta.
Needling
0.5-0.8 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With BL-40 and BL-23 for lower back pain; with SI-3 for neck and back.
