Bladder 57 (BL 57) Cheng Shan 承山 — Mountain Support

Location

On the back of the lower leg, in the depression formed below the bellies of the gastrocnemius when the muscle is flexed, about 8 cun distal to BL-40.

Anatomy

At the junction of the gastrocnemius and the Achilles tendon; the posterior tibial artery; the medial sural cutaneous nerve and the tibial nerve.

Indications

Cramp and pain of the calf, lower back and leg pain, sciatica, and haemorrhoids and rectal prolapse.

1.0-1.5 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Point Combinations

With Du-1 and BL-35 for haemorrhoids; with BL-40 for the lower back and leg.
