Kidney 9 (KI 9) Zhu Bin — Guest House

This is the Xi-Cleft point of the Yin Wei Mai. It calms the spirit, resolves phlegm and is classically used to nourish the fetus and clear toxins.

Location

On the medial aspect of the lower leg, approximately 5 cun superior to KI-3, on the line connecting KI-3 and KI-10, at the lower border of the belly of the gastrocnemius muscle.

Anatomy

On the soleus and gastrocnemius; the posterior tibial artery; the medial crural cutaneous nerve and the tibial nerve.

Indications

Mental-emotional disorders and mania, phlegm conditions, vomiting, pain of the medial lower leg, and (classically) detoxification.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With PC-5 and HT-7 for mental-emotional disorders with phlegm.
