This is the Jing-River and Metal point and the tonification point of the Kidney channel. It tonifies the Kidney, regulates sweating and resolves oedema.
Location
On the medial aspect of the lower leg, 2 cun superior to KI-3, anterior to the Achilles tendon.
Anatomy
Anterior to the Achilles tendon, on flexor hallucis longus; the posterior tibial artery and vein; the medial crural cutaneous nerve and the tibial nerve.

- Regulates sweating (both spontaneous and night sweats)
- Resolves dampness and oedema and warms the Kidney
Indications
Night sweats and spontaneous sweating, oedema and abdominal distension, diarrhoea, lower back pain and weak legs, and urinary disorders.
Needling
0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With LI-4 to regulate sweating; with KI-3 and BL-23 to tonify the Kidney.
