Liver 8 (LV 8) Qu Quan — Spring at the Bend

This is the He-Sea and Water point of the Liver channel. It nourishes Liver blood and yin, resolves damp-heat in the lower burner and benefits the knee.

Liver 8 (LV 8) Qu Quan 曲泉 — Spring at the Bend

Location

On the medial aspect of the knee, at the medial end of the popliteal (knee) crease when the knee is flexed, in the depression anterior to the tendons of semitendinosus and semimembranosus.

Anatomy

Anterior to the semimembranosus and semitendinosus tendons; the great saphenous vein and the medial superior genicular artery; the saphenous nerve.

Indications

Genital pain and itching, abnormal vaginal discharge, prolapse of the uterus, infertility, painful urination, and pain of the medial knee.

Needling

0.8-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With SP-6 to nourish Liver and Kidney; with LV-5 for genital damp-heat.
