Small Intestine 19 (SI 19) Ting Gong 聽宮 — Palace of Hearing

Location

On the face, between the tragus and the mandibular joint, in the depression formed when the mouth is open, midway between SJ-21 and GB-2.

Anatomy

Anterior to the tragus; the auricular branches of the superficial temporal artery; the facial and auriculotemporal nerves.

Indications

Tinnitus, deafness, otitis and ear discharge, and mental-emotional disorders.

Needling

0.5-1.0 cun, perpendicular insertion with the mouth held open.

Moxibustion Suitability

Moxibustion is generally not used on the face.

Point Combinations

With SJ-17, SJ-21 and GB-2 for ear disorders.
