This is the Ying-Spring and Water point of the Small Intestine channel. It clears heat and benefits the head, neck and sense organs.

Small Intestine 2 (SI 2) Qian Gu 前谷 — Front Valley

Location

On the ulnar side of the little finger, distal to the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint, at the border of the red and white skin.

Anatomy

On the ulnar side of the proximal phalanx; the dorsal and palmar digital arteries; the dorsal and palmar digital nerves from the ulnar nerve.

  • Clears heat and reduces swelling
  • Benefits the head, neck, eyes and ears
  • Promotes lactation

Indications

Numbness of the fingers, sore throat, tinnitus, febrile disease, mastitis and insufficient lactation, and eye disorders.

Needling

0.2-0.3 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With SI-1 for lactation; with SI-5 for febrile disease.
