Lung 2 (LU 2) Yun Men — Cloud Gate

This point, lies in the infraclavicular fossa and is used to descend and disperse Lung qi and to relieve disorders of the chest and shoulder.

Lung 2 (LU 2) Yun Men 雲門 — Cloud Gate

Location

On the upper lateral chest, in the depression of the infraclavicular fossa, 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline, medial and inferior to the acromial end of the clavicle.

Anatomy

Deltoid and pectoralis major muscles; the cephalic vein and thoraco-acromial artery; the supraclavicular nerve and the lateral and medial pectoral nerves.

  • Descends and disperses Lung qi
  • Clears heat from the upper burner
  • Benefits the shoulder and chest

Indications

Cough, asthma, fullness and pain of the chest, and pain of the shoulder and upper arm.

Needling

0.5-0.8 cun, oblique or transverse insertion directed laterally.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With LU-1 for cough and chest fullness; with LI-15 for shoulder pain.

Cautions & Contraindications

Deep perpendicular insertion risks pneumothorax. Needle obliquely or transversely in a lateral direction.
