Indications
Exterior wind-cold excess: chills and fever with no sweating, headache and generalised body aches, and wheezing.
Tongue & Pulse
Tongue: thin, white coat. Pulse: floating and tight.
Modifications
With interior heat and irritability, add Shi Gao (Da Qing Long Tang). For milder cases, reduce the dose of Ma Huang.
Cautions & Contraindications
A strong diaphoretic - contraindicated in exterior deficiency with sweating, in qi or yin deficiency, and in those with hypertension. Use briefly and stop once sweating is achieved.
