Indications
Phlegm or food lodged in the chest and upper epigastrium: a stifling, hard fullness of the chest with a desire to vomit but inability to do so, irritability, and laboured breathing; also some poisonings.
Tongue & Pulse
Tongue: greasy coat. Pulse: floating (or slippery) in the front position.
Modifications
Stop as soon as vomiting occurs; rarely used today.
Cautions & Contraindications
Gua Di is toxic - small doses only; contraindicated in deficiency, bleeding, pregnancy and the frail. Use only with expertise.
