Zhourong (SP-20), “Encircling Glory”, on the upper lateral chest, unbinds the chest and descends rebellious Lung qi.

Location

On the lateral chest, in the second intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

Anatomy

In the second intercostal space, on pectoralis major and minor; the thoraco-acromial and lateral thoracic arteries; the lateral cutaneous branch of the second intercostal nerve.

Actions & Functions

  • Unbinds the chest and descends rebellious qi
  • Relieves cough and fullness

Indications

Cough and copious phlegm, fullness and pain of the chest and costal region, and difficulty swallowing.

Needling

0.3-0.5 cun, oblique or transverse insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With LU-1 for cough and chest fullness.
