Daheng (SP-15), “Great Horizontal”, lateral to the umbilicus, regulates the Intestines and strengthens the Spleen; a key point for constipation and chronic diarrhoea.

Location

On the abdomen, 4 cun lateral to the centre of the umbilicus.

Anatomy

On the external and internal oblique and transversus abdominis; the tenth intercostal and inferior epigastric arteries; the tenth intercostal nerve.

  • Regulates the Intestines and the qi of the abdomen
  • Strengthens the Spleen

Indications

Constipation, diarrhoea and dysentery, abdominal pain and distension, and lower abdominal masses.

Needling

0.7-1.2 cun, perpendicular insertion.

Moxibustion Suitability

Suitable for moxibustion.

Point Combinations

With ST-25 and SJ-6 for constipation; with ST-37 for diarrhoea.
