Yanglao (SI-6), “Nourishing the Old”, is the Xi-Cleft point of the Small Intestine channel. It benefits the eyes and the sinews and is widely used for acute pain of the shoulder, arm and back.
Location
On the dorsal aspect of the forearm, in the bony cleft on the radial side of the head of the ulna, level with the wrist (located with the palm facing the chest).
Anatomy
In the cleft of the dorsal ulnar head; the terminal branches of the posterior interosseous artery; the posterior antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve.

Indications
Blurred or diminished vision, acute pain of the shoulder, arm, back and neck, and pain of the wrist.
Needling
0.3-0.5 cun, oblique insertion towards the elbow.
Moxibustion Suitability
Suitable for moxibustion.
Point Combinations
With BL-1 and GB-37 for eye disorders; with SI-3 for acute neck and back pain.
